Living Proof

These tears stain her cheeks and she doesn't know why
She tries to hold back but she can’t help but cry

A rose she has blossomed but is tangled inside
Her thorns cut and blister she just wants to hide

Alone she is scarred by the memories of her past
By the haunted and tortured nightmares that last

They last her a lifetime spurred moments shamed regrets
She is beaten and battered, "Well that's what she gets"

She's an angel that fell from the blue and white sky
Her wings they are broken and no longer fly

Underneath all her shadows she is still just a girl
Her golden hair lost it's color and soon lost it's curl

Before long the darkness consumes her in her darkest of times
She gives up and stares down at her wrists bleeding in lines

She pleads and she cries for an answer to her prayers
She just wants to be whole again she hates hiding under her layers

As she chokes on the darkness that soon consumes her soul
She fights for her last breath before it consumes her whole

And suddenly out of nowhere on the blackest of nights
Something desperate awoke in her and she stared at the light

As by miracle He came to earth from heaven above
To save her and make her and fill her with love

She is now whole again and with Him she can survive
She is happy and loving and for once she's alive.
